Chizaram Ucheaga – “2017 is our year of Strategic Partnerships: Glad to announce our partnership with Ethnikos Collection to digitize their catalogue of children’s toys to work with the Mavis Pen. With this collaboration, we are expanding into the Early Childhood Development (ECD) space to improve learning for young children (ages 1 – 5) using exciting children’s stories, rhymes and songs. Our goal is to help reach disadvantaged children across Nigeria in IDP Camps, public schools and in various communities to help improve their learning through the power of play.

Ethnikos Toy Drive

‘Children from all walks of life love receiving gifts and especially toys

Ellieko the ElephantThe Founder of Ethnikos Toy collection, Ajuma Ataguba is proud to announce and invite the general public to join and support the Ethnikos Toy Drive .The aim is to help displaced children recover from trauma and develop through playing and learning using specially-designed Ethnikos toys. The current humanitarian crisis in Nigeria reveals that there are approximately 3.3Million displaced persons out of which 70% are children.

WHY TOYS?

  • Toys provide psychological first aid and counselling in times of conflicts emergencies. The use of toys enables children to transfer anxieties, fears, fantasies, and guilt to objects rather than people.‘Play therapy, is to children what counseling or psychotherapy is to adults.
  • The vital tools children use in play are toys and they stimulate learning. Play is a direct contributor to a child’s education and developement. The appropriate toys aid a child in developing physical, cognitive, social and emotional skills.

TARGET:

The aim is to donate 25,000 brand new toys to 25,000 children in IDP camps, orphanages and other shelters across Nigeria by Christmas.

The cost of each toy is four thousand naira (₦4,000) only. We are looking for at least 25,000 people or more who can please help us make this happen by donating funds towards buying the toys.

DISTRIBUTION: Partner Charity organisations are collaborating on this Toydrive to ensure these disadvantaged children receive their toys. 2015-08-11 12.52.26 s

The Social Entrepeneur

Thomas Fieldman “One of the newest figures to emerge on the world stage in recent years is the social entrepreneur. This is usually someone who burns with desire to make a positive social impact on the world, but believes that the best way of doing it is, as the saying goes, not by giving poor people a fish and feeding them for a day, but by teaching them to fish, in hopes of feeding them for a lifetime. I have come to know several social entrepreneurs in recent years, and most combine a business school brain with a social worker’s heart. The triple convergence and the flattening of the world have been a godsend for them. Those who get it and are adapting to it have begun launching some very innovative projects.”

Happy NAIJA Elections!

IMG-20150310-WA0001As we head out to the polls on Saturday the  28th day of  March ,2015  here’s wishing all Nigerians a happy and peaceful voting day. Please shun violence and exercise your rights in the most civil manner through the ballot box.Remember that it’s a free world and we must respect each others choices. ,

My charge to the electorate is to keep the pressure on after the elections by seeking the appropriate channels of holding elected officials accountable. I’m happy to be a part of Nigeria’s history at such a time as this and to be a witness of an emerging populace that is sensitized about politics and governance. My brothers and sisters let’s channel this strength appropriately.

In the past few months , I’ve seen  the power of technology at play in the campaigns and  also  lots of creative and innovative  stuff done by Nigerians on social media platforms .I hope to see a honing of these talents after the elections and beyond .

On the lighter side  the GEJ/GMB Asoebi (uniform ) is still available up till tomorrow evening. Here is the  the sample below.Ha ! ha ! ha!
